Prime Minister will open Pasifika Futures 2nd Annual Conference
The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Leulua’iali’iotumua Bill English will give the opening address for the annual Whanau Ora Conference being hosted by Pasifika Futures starting in Wellington tomorrow.
The two-day conference focuses on the past three years since Pasifika Futures was established as a Whanau Ora commissioning agency to specifically work with Pasifika families to support families to succeed in education, healthier living, financial freedom, leadership, culture and community.
Sir La’auli Michael Jones, Minister for Pacific Peoples, Hon. Alfred Ngaro and Whanau Ora Minister Hon. Te Ururoa Flavell will also speak at conference.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to review our previous three years work, hear from families and leaders in the programme and focus on how we can be even more effective in supporting families to fulfil their aspirations.” Says Pasifika Futures Chief Executive. Debbie Sorensen.
Participating families and partners in the Whanau Ora programme will be coming from around New Zealand to attend the conference “From Work to Wonder” – the first three years of Whanau Ora in Action.
‘“We are proud of the work that families, our partners and Pasifika Futures have undertaken over the past three years. We have engaged with over 10,000 families and more than 56,00 individuals who have made some incredible gains in turning their lives around and securing a better future for their families,” says Dr. Kiki Maoate, President of the Pasifika Future’s Board of Directors.
