The Pasifika Medical Association 20th Anniversary conference “The pathway to leadership is service” will be held on 24, 25 and 26 August 2016 at the Rendezvous Hotel in Auckland.
PMA’s 20th Anniversary is an exciting milestone providing an opportunity for all PMA members and partners to reflect on its impact in communities and families in the Pacific region and as an organisation.
Founded in 1996, the PMA is the largest cohort of Pacific health professionals in the Pacific region, mostly doctors and nurses and senior administrators from many countries in the Pacific, including New Zealand.

Welcome Reception & Official launch of PMA publication “20 years of successful navigation – the Pasifika Medical Association Journey” at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, 24 August 2016 6.30pm
- The welcoming reception is for all participants of the conference hosted by the Minister for Pacific Peoples Hon Peseta Sam Lotu Iiga. The evening will also launch the publication “20 Years of Successful Navigation – the Pasifika Medical Association Journey (1996 2016) charting the growth and development of the PMA from its humble beginnings 20 years ago through to the vibrant and influential organisation it is today. The book will describe PMA’s evolution from a small organisation with a handful of volunteers to the largest Pacific health organisation in New Zealand, providing a strong voice on issues that impact on Pacific health and wellbeing. The book highlight stories of PMA pioneers.
Gala Ball Dinner & will be at the Rendezvous Hotel, 25 August 2016, 6.30pm
- This premium event will celebrate the 20 years of PMA’s journey. It will include the awarding of the prestigious Life Membership Awards and will acknowledge the service of its members through the awarding of the PMA Service Awards. Keynote speaker for this event is the Hon Bill English, Deputy Prime Minister NZ.
