PMA Webinar Series 2022: Exploring the opportunities offered in Public Health
Updates / Events , 4 Jul 22
The Pasifika Medical Association (PMA) will be starting their series of webinars tomorrow evening with the first one themed - ‘Shining the light on Public Health’. The webinars are designed to facilitate engaging talanoa, where experienced medical professionals who are experts in their fields share with colleagues and students about their journeys in their profession to date.

Pasifika Futures Board Director, Dr Siniva Sinclair, is among one of three speakers for the webinar. She is excited to offer a perspective around the importance of Public Health.

“Public Health is very broad and there’s many opportunities to get involved in lots of different aspects of work that help improve the health of populations rather than individuals.

Part of what we want to do is help our young people in health professions understand what Public Health is and see it as a viable and attractive option for where they can make a difference.”

She encourages young health professionals or those aspiring to enter the field to tune in to the webinar.

“It’ll be a great chance to hear from a range of people on the panel; it’s an opportunity to hear different perspectives and experiences and to explore Public Health as a possibility.”

Dr Sinclair is looking forward to connecting with people and looking at how the conversation around Public Health can be ongoing.

“I’m planning to be there in person at Middlemore Hospital, so it’s going to be awesome being able to connect with people and talanoa together.”

The PMA Pasifika Health Leaders Webinar - ‘Shining the light on Public Health’ - will be live on Zoom, Wednesday 06 July, 2022 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

The webinar will also be hosted in person with refreshments across Auckland, Waikato, Taranaki, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
