Celebrating Cook Islands culture at Kia Orana Day in Porirua
Updates / Community , 15 Apr 25
The vibrant sights, sounds, and spirit of the Cook Islands came alive at Te Rauparaha Arena for Kia Orana Day, a special celebration of Cook Islands culture, heritage, and community right in the heart of Porirua.

Held during the weekend, the day was filled with joy and unity, bringing together families, community groups, performers, and leaders to honour the richness of the Cook Islands identity. Kia Orana Day featured cultural performances from local Cook Islands dance groups, heartfelt speeches, and a range of stalls from community organisations. It was a day for people of all backgrounds to connect with the Cook Islands culture, learn its stories, and celebrate its contribution to Porirua’s diverse identity.

The event also highlighted the strength of community collaboration, with many local groups and volunteers coming together to make the day a success.

Pasifika Futures was proud to be a sponsor of Kia Orana Day. Supporting events like this aligns closely with our values of empowering Pacific families and strengthening cultural identity.
