Pasifika Futures Limited (PFL) brought together over 150 enthusiastic youth for an exciting roadshow. Held at Pasifika Medical Association head office, Fale Mama, sports teams, PFL partners, and students from Otahuhu College and Tamaki College participated in a youth focused evening.

In a compelling demonstration of community spirit and shared aspirations, the Pasifika Futures Limited (PFL) Roadshow recently made a significant impact in Auckland, leaving a legacy of inspired minds and empowered families. Hosted at the Pasifika Medical Association Head Office, Fale Maama, the event represented a pivotal occasion for nurturing intergenerational dialogue and fostering innovation within the Pacific community.

Over 150 members of the Hamilton community gathered at the K’Aute Fale on a chilly evening. This session marked the second gathering in the North Island, featuring lively group discussions and open floor sessions.

The Pasifika Futures roadshow resumed in Wellington, marking the start of our talanoa sessions in the North Island. The event saw a significant turnout, with meaningful and purposeful discussions throughout the evening.

The PFL Roadshow for the South Island concluded its journey in Christchurch, where a large and diverse gathering of Pacific families came together. The event drew people of various Pacific backgrounds and all age groups, eager to participate in a talanoa about their dreams and goals for the Pacific community in the Canterbury Region.

As part of our ongoing roadshow, the Pasifika Futures team continued their journey, facilitating consultations with Pacific families and communities to explore their aspirations and paths towards prosperity.

Pasifika Futures (PFL) kicked off its roadshow in the South Island, hosting an evening of talanoa and connection for Pacific families in Invercargill, providing a platform to express their hopes and aspirations for the local Pacific community.

The Tongan Youth Trust (TYT) is dedicated to empowering Tongan youth with a passion for their development. Through a variety of programmes, TYT aims to create an environment where young Tongans can flourish and stay connected to their rich cultural heritage through community-driven initiatives.

In the heart of Māngere, a tribute concert unfolded, a homage to the melodies that wove through the soul of Tonga. They called her Tonga’s nightingale, Tu’imala Kaho, a luminary whose compositions danced between the realms of poetry and music, shaping the very essence of her island’s spirit. Presented by Fofo'anga South Auckland New Zealand Incorporated (FSANZI) and supported by Pasifika Futures (PFL), the concert was a tapestry woven with the threads of Tongan culture.

Over the weekend, Ōtāhuhu College and Tangaroa College went head-to-head on the rugby field, kicking off the National Secondary Schools 1XV season for 2024. Through Pasifika Futures' sports strategy, delivered in partnership with Ah Mau Sports and Wellbeing, both schools were provided with sports and training equipment in preparation for the upcoming year.

Moana Vā are a collective who were established to identify and address the needs for Pacific Rainbow+, LGBTQIA+, MVPFAFF+ communities in the Canterbury Region. With a foundation of values such as collectivism, alofa (love) and aiga (family), the organisation aims to uplift and advocate for Rainbow+ communities. Earlier this month they entered a netball team in the inaugural Rainbow Games, with support from Pasifika Futures (PFL) through their Sports Strategy.

Situated in Whangarei sits a new hub for Pacific communities courtesy of Pasifika Futures (PFL) partner, Fale Pasifika Te Tai Tokerau. The local community came together to celebrate the grand opening of the new building, which was met with excitement and high spirits. The team at Fale Pasifika is dedicated to supporting the prosperity of Pacific communities in the Northland region and looks forward to their new space becoming a home for their people.
