Pasifika Autism Support Group hosts Family and Aiga Day to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month
Updates / Community , 24 Apr 25
The Pasifika Autism Support Group (PASG) brought families together in a celebration of unity, inclusion, and awareness at their Family and Aiga Day, held at the Ōtāhuhu Pool & Leisure Centre. The event, which marked Autism Acceptance Month, offered a joyful and welcoming space for Pacific families navigating the autism journey.

The day was filled with connection and celebration; families were able to relax, engage, and support one another while the children took part in a variety of fun, sensory-friendly activities.

Autism Acceptance Month, celebrated every April, is a time to promote understanding, inclusion, and acceptance of autistic people. It moves beyond awareness to foster a society where neurodiverse individuals are respected, supported, and empowered to thrive. For many families and communities, it’s also a time to celebrate the unique strengths of autistic individuals and advocate for a more inclusive future.

Pasifika Futures (PFL) were proud to sponsor the event, helping bring the day to life. PASG expressed gratitude for the partnership which was vital in supporting the PASG help create a safe and inclusive environment for the families.

The work of PFL is grounded in strengthening families and communities through culturally-aligned and holistic support. Our backing of this event reflects our commitment to building resilience, wellbeing, and connection among Pacific families, values that align with the mission of PASG.
