The Fono envisions holistic wellness for all who access their services
Updates / Community , 28 Nov 24
As the year draws to a close, Pasifika Futures Limited (PFL) reflects on the significant work accomplished by partners in supporting Pacific families to achieve their aspirations in health, housing, education, training, and economic development. One such partner, The Fono, has been a longstanding leader in health and wellbeing for Pacific communities for nearly forty years.

Offering a comprehensive range of services—including medical, dental, mental health, lifestyle, and family health—The Fono continues to set the standard for empowering prosperous families.

Fiugalu Tevita Funaki, Chief Executive Officer for The Fono, shares what drives the work they carry out.

“The vision for The Fono is that everyone who accesses our services is well—holistically well—that they are safe, vibrant, and able to celebrate their strengths, and that they are informed.”

Mr. Funaki also speaks about the value of the partnership and its impact on communities.

“Through the Whānau Ora services, we have continued to enhance services and expand access to supportive resources for families. We have secured sustained funding to support family needs. This has also enabled us to offer programs focusing on financial literacy, health, and well-being, equipping families with essential tools. It has further allowed us to offer Whānau Ora navigators and other staff access to workforce development opportunities.

"The Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency has contributed to the overall wellbeing of Pacific families, aligning with our mission of improving equity and wellbeing for the people and communities we serve. It has afforded us the ability to collaborate in advocating for Pacific prosperity at all levels—policy, funding and resources, family voice, workforce support and so on.”

PFL is proud to count The Fono as a partner and is committed to continuing to create a positive impact for Pacific families through this shared work.
