General Manager for Fale Pasifika, Johnny Kumitau, spoke with emotion as he acknowledged the local community and some of their recent challenges.
“Covid-19 especially was a challenging time for our community, but what it did was bring our communities closer together. We found that we had a lot of families in more isolated areas, so for us as a community organization our work is about trying to reach our people who can’t reach us.
“We want this space to be for our people, where they can connect and feel a sense of belonging. We’re a multiethnic community and want to play our part in contributing to a thriving Northland community.”
As a PFL partner, Fale Pasifika share a common purpose in serving Pacific families and supporting them on a journey towards prosperity and success that is shaped by their own vision and aspirations.
PFL Partnerships Manager, Sione Feki, attended the opening of Fale Pasifika’s new hub and acknowledged their heart to serve.
“This new building is significant for the community in Northland and Pasifika Futures is proud to be supporting the work of Fale Pasifika. There is a tight-knit Pacific community in Whangarei and it’s important they have a space to access support. We look forward to hearing more about the fantastic work of Fale Pasifika as they continue envisioning a brighter future for the local Pacific community.”
